Our Vision

A self-sustaining ecosystem where BIPOC youth nurture their storytelling abilities and they thrive through the lens of filmmaking, passing on what they have learned to those who follow.

Our Goal

Rising Reels is committed to making filmmaking experiences accessible. We emphasize under-represented voices and stories. We will provide a thriving and growing legacy where BIPOC youth will mentor one another and share their unique stories through the art of filmmaking. Rising Reels is a community-driven organization.

Our Mission

To provide high-quality and affordable filmmaking instruction to BIPOC youth from within underserved communities

Rising-Reels teaches filmmaking with courses geared towards BIPOC youth in underserved communities. Rising Reels is comprised of a coalition of artist-instructors, and film professionals based in Seattle neighborhoods.  We have working ties to the film community and public schools.  Rising-Reels is a 501c3 non-profit organization created by the owner Trina Griffin of Trina Studios.

Rising Reels provides support for the communities, this is where education happens, and our approach extends beyond the school by networking with local production companies to help ensure that students have a full experience and the necessary support to do their best in learning.

We provide state-of-the-art multimedia equipment for educational and operational use. We work with the kids to draw out their passion in film, whether it’s in front or behind the camera.

Our in-person film camps and afterschool programs are located within the communities that we serve.  We recognize that BIPOC youth thrive when they are taught in familiar surroundings and mentored by qualified instructors where the majority look and sound like they do; instructors who understand the challenges and nuances unique to people of color.  Rising-Reels wants to eliminate the obstacle of not learning by offers affordable pricing for all household incomes via sliding-scale options, free scholarships as well as creative financing.

Rising Reels has created a series of upcoming projects that will continue to show our Seattle youth how vast theatre/film is.  From training on the latest media tools to new classes on acting and the process of film making.

We are always seeking funding for our programs and every donation makes a huge difference in the number of children we can serve.  Follow us on Facebook for updates or on our Blog located here on our website, rising-reels.org

Education happens every second at Rising Reels. Our approach extends beyond the school to help ensure student have the necessary support to do their best learning.
